Nov 10, 2015 Growing up Williamsburg Everyone always asked me, what there is to do in Williamsburg? Being a local, people always thought that I was bored and never had anything to do growing up, especially in my teenage years. Well to be honest, sometimes it was hard to find things to do, because on one hand it is a college town, due to hosting one of the oldest college’s in history, and on the other hand, it is Colonial Williamsburg, where everyone comes to explore how Williamsburg came to be. In a nutshell, I definitely come from a tourist town, and even though it may seem boring to some people, it will always be home to me. Some of my best memories I had as a child was walking around Colonial Williamsburg and going to grab cookies at the bakery and of course, get ice cream from Baskin Robbins. I also remember running around the gardens and playing games. Another great memory I have growing up was taking long walks around the William and Mary campus with my grandad. I will never forget being a young kid and telling him on these walks that one day I would go to this great school. I could not wait to sit under trees and do my homework, and go to a school where it has natural beauty and character. It sounds corny I know, but it was my dream and I am so thankful I was able to fulfill it. Williamsburg made me want to have a future and made me see the future before my very eyes, because I would see college kids walking around, and I would see the families walking around Colonial Williamsburg. Williamsburg may not have all the bells and whistles a big city might have, but it made me see my future and I am proud to live in the historical town of Williamsburg.
